8 ways to beautifully fold a scarf in a jacket pocket

Despite the rapid change of events in the arena of modern fashion, men's chest scarves are in no hurry to go to the piggy bank of retro accessories. Selected with taste, such an element can become a pleasant accent and even “stretch” the whole image - therefore, the ability to fold a scarf nicely into a jacket pocket will be useful to many men.
General principles
As a rule, men who are sensitive to such accessories are distinguished by impeccable taste and intuitively understand how to choose, combine and use them. If in everyday life you are not a supporter of “ageless classics” and Italian charm, we have put together simple tips for you - 5 tips that will not let you face the face at a wedding, graduation or any other special occasion.
- The color of the scarf should not fit separately to a tie or jacket, but to all clothing and accessories in general. Do not repeat their shades, but combine with them.
- A scarf and tie from the same set, that is, sewn from the same fabric, in the vast majority of cases look tasteless.
- Do not choose synthetic scarves. You can’t confuse the cellophane shine of synthetics with anything, and this will greatly cheapen the image. In addition, non-natural fabrics are very difficult to fold beautifully.
- The “simpler” the scarf’s fabric, the less intricate the folding pattern should be.
- To make the accessory elegantly peek out of the pocket, and not fall into it, you need to choose a scarf of the appropriate size.
Tip
A white linen scarf can be called a universal option - it will look appropriate at a wedding, and on a date with a girl, and even at an interview in the office of a reputable company. It is easy to fold, and it will not "walk" in your pocket or turn around all the time.
8 ways to fold a scarf
How to fold a pocket square so that it looks elegant and does not try to jump out of a jacket pocket? We offer you a choice of 8 options.
Option 1. Simple
Fold the scarf by connecting the two opposite corners diagonally. Place the resulting triangle with the larger side toward you, grasp the left corner and bend a third of the “hypotenuse” to the right. Do the same with the other side.
Option 2. Simple informal
This method is suitable for scarves from light fabrics - silk, finest wool, cotton.
With two fingers, grab the handkerchief in the middle, lift, allowing the edges to freely fall down. With the other hand, take the fabric “in a bundle” closer to the corners, and wrap the base twice. Turn the resulting "bouquet" and place it in your pocket.
Option 3. "Mountain peaks"
This method is based on the basic, simplest one (see option 1). The only difference is in the first step: the square is not turned into a triangle, but folded with a slight offset so that the vertices do not coincide. Next, you need to exactly wrap the lower corners - each one third of the base.
Option 4. "Crown"
In the same way as in the first method, with a slight movement of the hand we turn the square into an isosceles triangle. With the finger of our left hand we press the middle of the “hypotenuse”, with our right hand we grasp the right acute angle and pull it towards the top (right corner), we place it to the left of it. We repeat the same thing with the second side. We turn the resulting figure. Depending on the size of the scarf and pocket, you can bend the bottom corner or leave it as it is.
Option 5. “Wings”
Fold the scarf diagonally so that the fold is at the top.Having pressed the middle of the longest side of the resulting triangle with your finger, we take each sharp corner one by one and fold so that their vertices coincide with the vertex of the right angle. After these manipulations, a rhombus will turn out of the square. Now you need to bend the bottom corner of the rhombus so that a pentagon resembles an open mail envelope. They put it in a pocket with an acute angle up.
Option 6. "Lily"
The scarf is folded diagonally with a slight offset (the fold should be at the bottom). Holding a finger in the middle of the base, with the second hand grasp its left side and bend it up, positioning the corner to the right of the “split” right angle. Moreover, all three “peaks” from right angles, which appeared at the top, should be approximately the same size. Now, the free edge remaining below must be bent to the left so that the folded scarf can be placed in your pocket.
Option 7. "Jags"
This method is much similar to the previous one, the difference is only in the last step: the free edge remaining at the bottom right is not bent horizontally, but up - exactly the same as the left side. The result is a symmetrical figure not with three, but with four “peaks” from right angles from above.
Option 8. "Adidas"
For adherents of modern sportswear, this is largely an ironic way, since the edge of the scarf that looks out of your pocket will resemble the logo of a well-known company.
- We fold the square scarf diagonally so that the fold is at the bottom.
- Bend the top layer down so that the fold is about 4 cm above the base of the triangle.
- Now this same right angle must be bent up so that the fold is approximately in the middle of the trapezoid formed at the base.
- With the remaining free edge, repeat the previous step - this time the bend should be in the middle of the trapezoid formed in the previous step.
- Gently flip the resulting "origami" - now in front of you again is an isosceles triangle.
- Fold the triangle in half, connecting its sharp corners. Now we see half of the "origami" obtained in the first four steps.
- We turn the resulting triangle so that the right angle is at the top, and the hypotenuse (the longest side), respectively, at the bottom. Bend the left edge about a third of the base.
- We also bend the right edge so that the scarf fits in your pocket.
Tip
If the selected method allows, try to place the scarf not horizontally, but with a slight tilt to the right, so that the angle points towards the shoulder. This visually extends the top of the figure a bit. For Italian costumes, the breast pocket of the jacket is even tailored accordingly - with a slight tilt.
So, correctly folding the scarf is a simple task. If you are not confident in your abilities, choose one of the simple methods described above, or simply fold the accessory four times, leaving the edge in sight. You will find some useful tips in the video below.
