How to wash glass: pitfalls of a newfangled coating
Recently, glass-based wallpapers have become an increasingly popular type of wall covering, which is why quite rightly many people ask the question: is it possible to wash glass? The coating itself is not afraid of moisture and can be easily cleaned, but the truth is that they rarely remain “naked”, because this is, first of all, wallpaper for painting.
How to determine which paint is painted glass
One of the main advantages of cullet is their strength and resistance to cleaning, so they are often covered with what does not detract from these properties: waterproof paints that are resistant to mechanical stress.
You can learn about the qualities of the paint by reading the data on the can or on the Internet, but if this is not possible (after all, rarely does anyone store empty containers from under the paint), you will have to find out empirically:
- Find a place invisible to prying eyes.
- "Dirty" a small area with the same that you intend to wipe (not necessary).
- Try washing the stain with detergents: start by using a small amount of water and a soft cloth or sponge. Remember that a fresh stain will always be wiped better than the old one.
- Carefully monitor how the paint responds to your actions: if the napkin has changed color, washing is unacceptable. If everything is in order, you can proceed to the main spot.
Cullets by themselves do not accumulate static electricity, to which dust adheres, and are not a favorable environment for mold or fungi, therefore they do not need to be “sanitized”. Being covered with a suitable paint, they are easy to wash, however, if during the repair you decide to save money and choose cheaper materials, then you will have to get along with a damp cloth and soaking movements or update the entire color layer.

If you only choose glass and paint for them, be prepared for the costs: all materials are not the cheapest, and quite a lot of paint will go.
Experts advise to prime the surface with a diluted adhesive solution before painting: this will reduce paint consumption, and it will stay even better.
Cullets are one of the most durable materials, and it is allowed to repaint it up to 20 times. But ease of use depends on the quality of the paint that is applied on top. If it is waterproof, wall care will not cause a headache, and the stains will easily go away with water.
