Reasons why a ceramic coated pan starts to burn. What to do in this case?
Content:
Ceramic-coated dishes are very much appreciated by modern housewives for their attractiveness, ease of use and environmental friendliness. Unfortunately, after some time, food begins to burn on a functional surface, and only a few know what to do in this case.
The appearance of soot can be prevented, for this you need to learn how to use the device correctly and regularly carry out appropriate care for it. If the pan was nevertheless spoiled, in most moments there is still the opportunity to clean and restore it. In any case, you will have to find out why the device has ceased to fulfill its functions and take these factors into account for the future.
Important points in using a ceramic coated pan
According to experts, a ceramic coated pan, subject to the rules for its operation, can last at least 1-2 years without creating any problems. After that, specific cleaning is carried out and the device can be counted on for at least one more year. Then it is better to change the dishes, by this time it will have time to wear out quite a bit.
Such parameters are possible subject to the following recommendations:
- Do not immediately put the device into operation. First, the new thing must be thoroughly washed with a neutral washing gel and a soft sponge, then dried with a towel. After that, the coating needs to be greased with a small amount of vegetable oil and after a couple of hours you can start cooking.
- The pan must not be exposed to temperature changes. It is strictly forbidden to place it under cold water immediately after use or spread frozen (and even just cool) ingredients on a ceramic coating. Violation of this rule will lead to the formation of cracks, as a result of which burnt food will need to be wiped off constantly.
- If the appliance needs to be cleaned, only a neutral gel and a soft sponge can be used. Any abrasives are prohibited, even a gentle component such as soda will help wash the dirt along with the non-stick layer.
- Do not overheat dishes. It is highly recommended not to pre-heat the pan, then pour oil on it or spread the ingredients.
Tip: Cooking in such dishes should be done only on low or medium heat. Ceramics conduct heat very well, so even with such indicators, the ingredients will quickly reach the desired degree of readiness. An additional advantage of the approach is a uniform study of the components. Yes, and it’s easier to clean the rest of the food until it is burnt.
- In the process of cooking you need to use silicone, plastic or wooden spatulas. No metal, it scratches the ceramic coating too easily.
Following these simple rules will protect functional cookware from premature wear. If the recommendations no longer apply and the quality of the fixture is rapidly declining, this could be a sign of frying pan wear. It is useless to do something here, you have to purchase a new product.
How to properly care for the device to extend its life?
There are many limitations to working with ceramic dishes, especially in terms of processing them after use. There are several secrets that will help you quickly clean the product from carbon deposits and not damage its coating.
- If the food is not burnt, its remnants can be removed with a soft cloth dipped in olive oil. Then rinse the pan with water and dry.
- Minor impurities can be soaked for several minutes in warm water with a drop of detergent. After this, the problem areas need to be cleaned with a sponge.
- The spots remaining on the surface after deep-frying are best treated with alcohol. Just wet the fabric in it and go through the spots.
- For fast and high-quality processing of the outer walls of the dishes, it is recommended to use a melamine sponge. You need to rub carefully, then after a few minutes the product will shine like new. For surfaces in contact with food, this option is not suitable!
- If the soot is very dense, it is worth trying the option with digestion. For this, the pan must be completely (without a handle) placed in a container of water, pour a few spoons of the gel into the liquid, add a little soda and boil for half an hour.
A good result is the use of specialized gel products that neutralize fat. But they should be used only as necessary.
How can I restore a pan in a short time?
If the reason why the pan became unusable has been established, it is not necessary to purchase a new product, which will be properly maintained, you can try to reanimate the familiar device. To do this, take coarse salt, pour it on the bottom of the dishes so that the ceramics are completely hidden, and put on medium heat.
After a couple of hours of such calcination, the salt is removed, and the bottom and inner walls of the pan are poured with vegetable oil, which we drive on the surface for some time. Then we wash off the product and carefully treat the item with a neutral gel and a soft sponge.
The listed recommendations help in the vast majority of cases. They do not work only when working with defective products or objects consisting of ceramics with various unreliable impurities.

Great coverage!
Our best frying pan is cast iron with internal ceramics. Aluminum with ceramics is also good, but for cast iron, meat and meatballs are for some reason tastier 🙂 Maybe because it cooks slower on it?
There are two pancake pans. One with non-stick dark, and the second with ceramics, and I do not get enough of both - quickly and easily a mountain of pancakes grows :))
And in a slow cooker, a bowl with ceramics is just one sheer pleasure: it’s easy to wash, and immediately 5 liters can be left unattended. Here in the slow cooker pilaf turns out tastier and frizzier than in the classic cauldron. I'm not talking about porridge :))
So, many thanks to the creators of this coverage! :))
