Your green pets not only create a cozy atmosphere and moisturize the air, but also neutralize more than 85% of harmful impurities and pollution. Experts have compiled a list of plants for air purification and recommend them for breeding in urban houses and apartments.

Why does indoor air need to be cleaned?

The air that a person breathes is directly related to his state of health. A lot of carcinogenic substances accumulate in the atmosphere of a living room, which are released from finishing materials (linoleum, drywall, fiberboard and chipboard) when using varnish and glue, washing and detergents, gels, deodorants and fresheners. • Trichlorethylene - irritates the mucous membrane of the eye, causes excitation of the nervous system. The compound is found in furniture sprays, painted and varnished products.
• Xylene - adversely affects the functioning of the respiratory system, causes inflammation of the larynx and sore throat. Contained in varnishes and paints, plastic, leather products.

• Spathiphyllum Wallis

Spathiphyllum should be grown on windows facing north, since the plant does not like bright sunlight. Care consists in plentiful timely watering and top dressing with universal fertilizer. In order for the flower to better serve as a cleaner, you need to wipe the leaves every day with a damp cloth.

• Chrysanthemum

Garden chrysanthemum is recognized as a leader among plants that clean the air from harmful impurities. Usually experienced flower growers begin to grow this flower in the open ground, and with the onset of the first frosts they are transferred to the room. Blooming chrysanthemum in the city not only pleases the eye with bright inflorescences, but also cleans the atmosphere of the room from xylene, benzene and ammonia.

• Dracaena

Dracaena has several varieties, but all of them are endowed with a unique ability - to reduce the content of benzene and trichlorethylene in the air of a residential building.If the windows of a house or apartment overlook a busy street, you can’t do without dracaena. Trichlorethylene entering through the window with carbon monoxide will be absorbed by the leaves of a miniature and absolutely unpretentious palm.

• Pelargonium

Geranium ionizes and disinfects the air, so it can be grown in the bedroom, and in the kitchen, and in the nursery. The aroma of this plant has a calming effect, and the geraniol secreted by the leaves has an antibacterial effect.

• Tradescantia

Along with domestic conifers, the tradescantia perfectly neutralizes electromagnetic radiation, so it is advised to put it near a computer or TV. In addition, the flower miraculously moisturizes the air, reduces the concentration of formaldehydes and other harmful compounds.

• Aloe

In order for indoor plants to fully reveal their abilities in terms of purifying the air in the apartment, they must be properly looked after and correctly placed.

• A room of 30 square meters should have at least three medium-sized plants.
• It is better to put the flowers on one windowsill, and not to arrange them scattered throughout the room.
• Leaves of domestic plants should be cleaned as often as possible with a damp cloth or washed in the shower.
• For cleaning, it is recommended to use filters introduced into the soil, for example, activated carbon, which will help the plant more efficiently remove impurities.
