10 secrets of food film and methods of its use in everyday life
In the hands of a skilled housewife, any item becomes universal. Today I will tell you my favorite ways to use food wrap - a faithful assistant in the kitchen and at home. It replaces me packing bags, containers, lids, helps to prepare delicious dishes and save space.
Keeping food fresh
The main advantages of cling film are its low cost, simplicity and versatility of use. She does not pass moisture and air. The edges of the film do not need to be tied. It is enough to rewind the desired piece, wrap the object and cut it off from the coil. Everything keeps excellent, and the packaging is tight and reliable, especially if several layers are wound.
Most often I use cling film for the following purposes:
- Freezing I don’t really like making pickles and pickles. Most often I freeze seasonal fruits and vegetables. I use a film as packaging. I divide, for example, berries into portions, wrap them in polyethylene and put them in the freezer. One sachet - one serving. He took it out, cut it and cooked the compote. Very comfortably! In a similar way I freeze dumplings, dumplings and just what we did not have time to eat.
- Storage of fruits, vegetables, herbs. It is no secret that cut vegetables and fruits in the air are weathered and quickly disappear. To prevent this from happening, it is convenient to use cling film. I wrap it with watermelons, melons, pumpkins, extend the shelf life of bananas, pineapples, fruit slices and vegetable salads. By the way, so that the bunch of bananas does not deteriorate for a long time, several layers of the film must be wound on the tails.
- There is little space in the refrigerator - use foil instead of covers. Sometimes, most often during the holidays, the refrigerator simply breaks from the abundance of dishes. Large pots do not fit. To save space, I remove the covers and use film instead.
Cooking use
Suitable cling film for cooking different dishes. It does not contain toxic substances. You can heat food in the microwave in it, pickle meat. Or use directly in cooking:
- For a magnificent test. If you wrap the yeast dough in polyethylene and place it in the refrigerator, it will rise very quickly. And also with a film it is convenient to cover the dough on pies, dumplings, dumplings. While you are doing the game, nothing is weathering.
- Cooking poached egg, scrambled eggs and homemade sausages. Periodically I delight my family with delicious and healthy dishes. To cook a poached egg, you need to make a pouch from the film, drive the egg into it and lower it for 3 minutes in boiling water. The omelet is prepared in this way, only milk is added to the eggs, and I also put pieces of sausage, herbs and seasonings in the bag. Delicious! For sausages, I first make the stuffing, then spread it with a spoon on the film at a distance of 1 cm, wrap and form sausages.
Reliable packaging
In the film, you can wrap not only food, but also things. This is a sealed package for all occasions:
- Assistant in moving. Food wrap will help to pack loose materials, forks, spoons. If you wrap things around it, they will take up much less space in the suitcase. And I put pieces of film under the covers of shampoos, balms, creams. So they probably will not spill on the road.
- No spill. Those who have grandchildren and children know how often kids turn over their glasses. To avoid unnecessary cleaning, I wind the granddaughter onto a cup of cling film and make a hole with a tube. Done! You can drink at any angle and even on the run.
Cling film and creative
At first glance, film is a boring subject. But if you think carefully, it can be adapted even for creativity. Here is what I came up with:
- Drawings. Granddaughter really likes to draw, but if she accidentally gets her fingers dirty, she starts to cry. I suggested she make patterns through the film. We first squeeze the colors we like onto the landscape sheet, cover it with polyethylene and brush it. When the drawing is ready, remove the shelter and leave it to dry.
- Instead of a vase. I have one vase that lets water through. It is made of woven ropes. Very beautiful, but alas, impractical. I still figured out how to put fresh flowers in it! You need to spread the film on the table, place it inside the napkins, wet them, and then wrap the flowers at the base. Thus, they receive food and can stand without water for a very long time.
Insect trap
Another useful way to use food wrap is to create a trap for harmful insects that try to get into the house in the warm season. I do it according to this scheme:
- First you need to cut off the plastic bottle. For the trap you will need only the lower part.
- Next, you should pour bait into it - sweet jam, honey, diluted with water, pieces of fruit.
- We wind 4–5 layers of the film onto the hole and pierce 1–2 holes with a pencil.
Smelling food, midges and flies will rush into the hole, but they will not be able to get out of it and will drown in a sweet slurry. In the summer I always have such a trap, and there are no harmful insects in the house.
Cling film is a very useful invention. One reel can replace dozens of bags, food trays. From it you can make a spill for the baby, a trap for insects. How do you use it?
