Crazy tea party: restoring a broken nail with a tea bag
Content:
Sealing a nail with a tea bag is the easiest way to mask the crack and maintain the desired length. Faults on the “smile line,” that is, where the nail plate connects to the skin, are most easily restored.
What do you need?
Of course, one cannot do without the main “protagonist” - a tea bag. In addition to it, it is worth keeping on the hook:
- nail polish remover;
- colorless and colored varnish;
- tweezers;
- orange cuticle stick or toothpick;
- a thick base for manicure or special glue for repairing nails;
- grinding buff (if this is not, an ordinary nail file will do);
- scissors;
- top cover.
If varnish and other materials that do not dry in air are used, a special lamp will also be needed.
How to glue a nail with a tea bag?
The first step is to remove the varnish. If the nails are not made up, you can immediately begin the restoration:
- Cut a patch from a tea bag, the size of which slightly exceeds the length of the fault.
- Degrease the nail by wiping it with nail polish remover.
- Depending on the materials used, cover the nail plate with a layer of base or colorless varnish and dry it a little.
- With tweezers, put on the crack a prepared piece of the bag and carefully smooth with a stick.
- Wait until the coating is completely dry.
- Using a buff, polish the edges of the patch. It will not work completely invisible, but you need to try to make the outlines of the rectangle as less noticeable as possible.
- Apply colored varnish on top and dry it.
An important nuance - when using bright varnishes, you need to remember that the color is eaten into the material from which the bag is made, so until the nail grows out, it will be possible to make the manicure only darker.
Questions and answers
Our editors turned to an experienced manicurist and compiled a list of the most common questions that girls and women face in the process of nail restoration.
Which tea bag to choose - are they different?
The more fibrous the structure of the material the bag is made of, the better the patch will hold. Some manufacturers of eco-products use filter paper, in appearance similar to ordinary napkins - such products for repairing nails are definitely not suitable. Also, do not experiment with a fine-mesh plastic mesh (it is rarely found as packaging for coarse tea).
If possible, it is worth choosing a bag of non-woven material or a mixture of cellulose, thermoplastic and abacus.
Is it possible to glue the nail completely?
If the situation requires this, it is possible. In other cases, it is better to limit the fault area. The fact is that the bag is firmly glued to the nail, and you can get rid of it only in one way - by cutting off the overgrown nail plate. Until this point, completely redo the manicure will not work.
Could something bad happen when using superglue?
The use of any kind of household glue on nails is prohibited:
- firstly, they are toxic;
- secondly, they are not intended for contact with the human body.
The same “Moment” corrodes the skin - if suddenly it seeps through a crack in the nail, problems can not be avoided. Suppurations, inflammation, exfoliation of the nail plate and other reactions of the body are possible, for the treatment of which you need to consult a dermatologist. In some cases, surgical intervention is required.
What if the patch is very noticeable?
In order for the restoration site to stand out less on the nail, it is necessary to polish the edges of the “patch” with high quality.
In addition, there are tricks that help hide a visual defect:
- the use of glitter, shiny varnishes, shimmering in several colors (plain and matte shades emphasize the imperfection of manicure);
- gluing beads, rhinestones and other decorative elements;
- drawings on the nails.
Can I stick a bag on top of gel polish?
It is difficult to remove such a varnish at home - not everyone has a special solvent or a milling machine. Therefore, the option of sticking a tea bag on top of the varnish is allowed, however, you should contact the master as soon as possible for the correction. Such repairs do not threaten health problems, but the appearance of the nail will noticeably suffer.
By the way, you can seal a nail with a tea bag not only if it’s native - built up with acrylic can also be restored. Walking with a “patch” is allowed as long as it takes to grow the desired length of the nail, or until it becomes possible to make a correction.
