Old spots on children's things can confound even the most experienced housewives. How to remove persistent and already heavily ingrained pollution without damaging the fabric and without harming the baby’s delicate skin? In fact, there are a lot of ways, and most of them are highly efficient and do not negatively affect things.
True, with all the softness of the approaches, they also have their own specifics. Neglect of the recommendations can lead to molting of products, increasing the durability of spots, increasing the area of damage.
Important points when working with old spots
Removing stains from the surface of children's clothing should be carried out according to the following rules:
- It is better to refuse ready-made detergents. Conventional powders may not always remove old stains, and the use of phosphate formulations can adversely affect a child’s health.
- If for some reason it is impossible to use natural products, you can try to treat children's things with gel powders based on enzymes. Usually they contain detergent extracts of plant origin, therefore they are safe for the skin of children. True, in this case, several approaches will have to be done in order to completely remove pollution.
- Washing and pre-soaking is recommended at the maximum permissible temperature. This will not only increase the effectiveness of the approach, but also prevent the development of pathogenic microorganisms.
- When washing clothes of children and adults, mixing is not recommended, even if the stains on the fabric of the same nature.
- Before proceeding with the treatment of spots, you need to try to determine their origin or quality. Fat spots are often impregnated through the fabric and are visible even from the inside. They do not have clear boundaries and after a while they become dull. Old traces without greasy components oxidize under the influence of ultraviolet light and take on shades from yellow and brown to rust.
Spots of any nature can be removed without a trace, if you act strictly according to the scheme. We turn the garment on the wrong side, put a white cotton cloth or several paper napkins under the problem area. We apply the selected product to the pollution, acting with a cotton pad. First you need to process the edges of the spot, then it does not blur. Then we move from the periphery to the center until we can completely remove the formation.
Rules for removing greasy stains
Most often, oily spots appear on children's clothing, which gradually covers the dust, forming persistent pollution. Means with which you can remove sebaceous stains, will help to remove and formations of organic origin.
- Potato starch. From a dry product, we prepare a homogeneous gruel of medium consistency. We put it on the contaminated part of the thing, clean the cloth with a soft brush or a hard sponge. Remains of the composition are removed with dry napkins or a cloth dampened with gasoline. If after processing the stains remain on the clothes, rub them with brown bread and wash them in soapy water.
Tip: If the spots are so old that they turned into a dense film, then it is recommended that they be slightly softened first. To do this, soak the product for half an hour in hot water (if blood is in cold) with the addition of soap chips.
- Refined gasoline. We apply the composition to the pollution with blotting movements, wait a few minutes until the formation begins to dissolve. Then, using the same blotting movements, we remove the remains of the product with the help of paper napkins. Then you need to remove all stains in the traditional way and dry the item in the fresh air.
- Salt. Half a glass of large crystals is dissolved in three liters of warm water. In the resulting solution, soak the spoiled things for half an hour, then, without rinsing, wash them as usual.
- Magnesia powder with ether. This active mixture can even remove traces of engine oil from any fabric. Of the two components, we knead a homogeneous paste, which we distribute over the surface of the stain and gently rub into the material. We wait until the composition dries, this will indicate the evaporation of ether. Remains of magnesia are removed with a brush or napkin.
- Ammonia with turpentine. To remove particularly persistent oil or greasy stains, you need to mix two parts of soap shavings and ammonia with one part of turpentine. The resulting mass is impregnated with the formation and left for a couple of hours. Then we erase the product in the usual way.
The listed approaches very rarely cause shedding of fabric, but before using the selected product you should still make sure that it is safe in a hidden area of the thing.
To influence the dried pollution of various origin?
It is rather difficult to recall or understand which product on the surface of a children's item turned into an indefinite yellowish spot. The best option is to use universal cleaning folk remedies:
- Lemon juice with alcohol. In a fresh lemon juice, add a few drops of heated medical alcohol. We apply the composition to the formation, wait a few minutes and send the product to the laundry. This product allows you to quickly and without a trace to remove traces of vegetable, berry and fruit juices, herbs. On a white plain fabric for this purpose, it is better to use hydrogen peroxide.
- Vinegar. On children's things it is not recommended to test the product in its pure form. It is better to dilute it first with cool water and use it for soaking or local cleaning of an undefined spot. An obvious plus of the option is the preservation of the fabric color.
- Glycerol. We wear the composition for contamination, maintain it for a quarter of an hour and wash it in soapy water. To work with thin natural tissues, it is better to use a product diluted with warm water (components are taken in equal proportions).
- Glycerin and ammonia. A similar composition will eliminate stains on the surface of woolen things. On a teaspoon of ammonia, we take two teaspoons of glycerin and dilute the mass in a glass of warm water. We apply the preparation on a stain, wait five minutes and wash the product in warm water with a small amount of gel or powder.
- Ammonia and borax. We make two solutions: one is based on a teaspoon of ammonia per glass of water, the second is a teaspoon of borax in a glass of water. First, soak the spoiled thing in an alcohol solution for several minutes, then place it in a container with a borax. We don’t have three spots, just send the soaked item to the laundry.
The described methods of exposure to tissue very rarely give a negative reaction from the skin of a child. In order to minimize this moment, the processed products must be passed through several rinsing cycles and thoroughly dried in the fresh air.
If after all the measures the delicate aroma of the used product comes from the product, you need to wash it again, while using conditioners and products with strong fragrances is not worth it, they can mask the smell of household chemicals, reducing the possibility of its determination.
